SPARTA — A stroke awareness fundraiser in Sparta raised more than $12,000 and supported a local stroke victim from Hamburg…
Brielle Takacs-Senske is a senior at William Paterson University, as well as the community relations director at Takacs Wellness Center in Lafayette. She enlisted support from local businesses and organizations in her goal to raise $5,000 for the Slate family’s medical expenses. However, the event exceeded that goal. Dr. Michele Takacs said that every year more than 700,000 Americans suffer a stroke and it is the third most common cause of death. “Someone suffers a stroke every 45 seconds and lifestyle changes go a long way in preventing this debilitating disease,” Takacs said. “It is imperative that people fully understand its signs, namely summed up in its acronym, F.A.S.T.
